I find it interesting that Agememnom is willing to reconcile with Achilles. What is the point behind all of this? He knows in the end he will lose the fight. The gifts insinuate that Agememnom thinks of Achilles as a god like figure, but he still insults him insisting that he is much more powerful and god like. With this, Achilles is bound to reject the gifts and prove that he is in fact a god. Agememnom not only insults Achilles, but does so without even an apology that he is willing to repair their friendship and trust. Achilles only wish is to receive the power and glory he has said he always deserved.
