I am interested in choosing topic five for my final paper. I re read the first interaction between the Herald and the Chorus of elders, and visualized the Chorus trying to hint to the Herald that something was wrong, while he was completely unaware of all the signs.

  1. This is definitely the way you should look at that interaction. So much of the tragedy appears somewhat unnecessary at times - why should we spend so much time reading about the Herald? Does he really contribute anything to the momentum of events in the Agamemnon? On the surface, it might seem that it does not, but that is much of the fun that comes with looking at truly great and momentous literary achievements - you get to dig out *why* Aeschylus felt this was important enough to put in, and what interesting things we can ferret out of such an episode.
